The Pre-COP Stakeholder Program runs from 5 – 8 October 2026 and is hosted in Nadi, Fiji (UTC +12). The Stakeholder Program is held at two venues, the Sofitel and Crowne Plaza. The Program runs alongside the formal Pre-COP program, a two-day event on Wednesday 7 and Thursday 8 October.

The four-day program offers a mix of event formats including keynotes, panels, roundtables, workshops, networking opportunities and cultural performances.

Registration provides access to a diverse program of sessions, topics and discussions. Opportunities for networking, engagement and interaction are on offer in the Bula Village and public areas of the venues. The venues have food and beverage available for purchase.

A process to express interest in holding an event as part of the Stakeholder Program took place between 27 July and 14 August. Due to the lead time required to design and finalise the program, we are not able to accept further public proposals.

Registration to participate in the Stakeholder Program is open to all. The program brings together a broad cross-section of stakeholders including community leaders, Government officials, academics, scientists, entrepreneurs, start-ups, climate advocates, civil society representatives, youth, First Nations leaders and climate professionals.

No, there is no fee to attend the Pre-COP Stakeholder Program.

Attendees are responsible for all travel, accommodation and meal costs associated with their participation.

No. Due to capacity restrictions the Official Pre-COP is by invitation only. Some Stakeholder Program attendees may also receive an invitation to Pre-COP, but by its nature Pre-COP is a significantly smaller event than a COP, necessitating a smaller attendee footprint. Unfortunately, we are not able to consider requests for an invitation to the Official Pre-COP.

No, the Pre-COP Stakeholder Program is an in-person event.

This year’s Pre-COP prioritises four policy pillars that guide the COP31 Pacific Partnership:

• keeping 1.5°C within reach
• enhancing access to climate finance
• elevating the ocean-climate nexus
• amplifying Pacific voices and leadership

The program also emphasises health and climate.

The Pre-COP is a critical step in the annual UNFCCC process, helping nations set priorities, identify landing zones and sharpen negotiation pathways ahead of COP31 in Antalya, Türkiye (9–20 November). Türkiye are the host of COP31. Australia is working in partnership with Türkiye, Fiji, Tuvalu and other Pacific partners to deliver COP31 Pre-COP.

Hosting Pre-COP in the Pacific provides a powerful platform to amplify Pacific voices, leadership and solutions to the climate crisis, elevate Pacific partnership priorities, and ensure the region helps shape and inform global climate negotiations.

Yes. Media accredited for Pre-COP have access to the Stakeholder Program. Media not accredited for Pre-COP need to be provided with accreditation specific to this event.
